Following the former Berlin wall, this tour follows the recent developments in the centre of Berlin. The most important squares in the city, Pariser, Potsdamer and Leipziger Platz, had suffered from the division in east and west as every urban life had disappeared from 1961 till 1990. The Postdamer Platz, a few years ago the biggest construction site in the world, has now become the new business district of Berlin. The Daimler Chrysler development and the Sony Center provide space for offices, shops, leisure and cultural activities.

On the Pariser Platz the Brandenburg Gate marks the transition from the Unter den Linden boulevard to the Tiergarten. After being prohibited area for the public for three decades, it is again a chic urban square surrounded by embassies, banks and the academy of arts. Right next to the Pariser Platz the holocaust memorial has been built after plans of Peter Eisenman and Richard Serra. The German parliament has been accommodated in the old Reichstag building after a remodification by Norman Foster. Together with other recent office buildings the new parliament forms the new government district of Berlin.
